Speculations are rife that India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, is building a second home for himself and his family, which is located not in India but in the West. According to a Mid-Day report, the Ambanis are planning to shift base to the 300-acre London property in Buckinghamshire, Stoke Park.

Reportedly, after the Ambanis spent most of their time during the lockdowns and pandemic inside their posh sky-high residence 400,000 square feet ‘Antilia’ in Mumbai, the family realised they needed a second property to call home. The family also wanted something more open in terms of space and nothing like their vertical building ‘Antilia’ situated in Mumbai’s poshest locality, Altamount Road. So the Ambanis started their hunt for the new home last year and finally locked the deal on the Stoke Park mansion.

The London property has been purchased at a whopping Rs 592 crore earlier this year. There have also been reports that the Ambanis will make the London property their primary home and have already started setting it up as per their needs.

The family also celebrated Diwali this year at their new home which they usually celebrate in Antilia. After celebrating Diwali, the Ambanis will return to India and will fly back to their UK mansion next year in April once things have settled and are in place.

However after all these speculations and reports started surfacing, the Reliance group thought it apt to issue a statement on Friday rejecting the “baseless” reports.

“A recent report in a newspaper has led to unwarranted and baseless speculation in social media regarding the Ambani family’s plans to partly reside in Stoke Park, London,” the statement said.

The company said it would like to clarify that Mr Ambani and his family have “no plans whatsoever to relocate or reside in London or anywhere else in the world.”

However, the Reliance group said that its Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings Limited, “which acquired Stoke Park estate recently, would like to clarify that its acquisition of the heritage property is aimed at enhancing this as a premier golfing and sporting resort, while fully complying with the planning guidelines and local regulations.”

“This acquisition will add to the fast-growing consumer business of the group. Simultaneously, it will also expand the footprint of India’s famed hospitality industry globally,” the statement said.
