Amit Jain, the former APAC Head of Uber has been appointed as marquee venture capital firm Sequoia Capital’s Managing Director and he will be joining the firm’s Growth team, helping develop new opportunities and perking up the existing growth stage companies in India and SEA.
Jain will be based out of the Singapore office. Announcing this new appointment in a LinkedIn post, G V Ravishankar, MD, Sequoia Capital said, “His addition to the team underscores our deep commitment to helping founders realise their dreams of building very large and enduring companies, many of whom will become key pillars of this region’s growth, prosperity and innovation.”

Prior to joining Sequoia Capital, Amit was heading Uber’s Asia Pacific wing, one of the fastest-growing regions for the company.
At Uber, Amit led the cab-aggregator’s business in India and South Asia – from its inception days in the market to exponential growth over three years.
