ED raids Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee in SSC scam case
The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday conducted raids at the home of West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, a day after Rs 20 crore in cash was recovered from his aide’s house.
Chatterjee, a senior leader in the ruling Trinamool Congress, came out of the house within minutes after a lawyer arrived at the scene.
ED officials had arrived at Chatterjee’s home on Friday morning and questioned him in connection with its probe into the SSC scam.
The Calcutta High Court had earlier observed that a high-powered supervisory committee, approved by Partha Chatterjee, was the “root” of the alleged scam. The bench had ordered a CBI investigation into the recruitment process of teachers in state-aided schools after committee members overseeing the process from January 2019 made contradictory submissions before the court.
