BMCHRC launches infection free cancer treatment ward

Bhagwan Mahaweer Cancer Hospital and Research Center has inaugurated a new feature of AML blood cancer ward in the hospital on August 22nd 2017. The 12 bedded AML ward is Rajasthan’s first of its kind ward introduced in any hospital and provides infection free treatment for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) Cancer.

 

Commenting on the inauguration, Dr Upendra Sharma, Senior Consultant, Haemato Oncology- BMCHRC said, “We have observed that the chances of infection in AML cancer patient are 90% higher than the regular cancer cases. AML Cancer patients during treatment are prone to multiple infections like- Pneumonia, Cough & Fever which leads to increase in treatment cost & duration. The AML ward introduced in the hospital will not only help the patient fight against multiple infections but also will reduce the cost and duration of the treatment.”

 

This specially designed ward has 3 entry levels which make both the doctor and the Nursing Staff infection free before they approach patients. Treatment Facilities in this ward will be at par with Medial ICU but patients will be charge with General Ward fees only.

 

The Chairman of the Hospital, Navratan Kothari inaugurated the AML Ward. Vice Chairperson Anila Kothari & HOD Medical Oncology Dr Ajay Bapna were also present on the occasion.
