In a significant breakthrough, security forces in Odisha’s Koraput district have unearthed a Naxal weapons workshop, dismantling a clandestine operation that posed a grave threat to regional stability. The operation, meticulously executed near the Sunki area, led to the recovery of a cache of locally manufactured firearms, showcasing the unwavering determination of security personnel in combating the Naxal insurgency.

Acting on actionable intelligence provided by the field ‘G’ Team, an Anti-Naxalite Deployment (ADP) comprising three Sub-Officers and 14 Other Ranks, under the leadership of Inspector Sandeep Kerketta, was swiftly deployed from COB Sunki, as confirmed by the Border Security Force (BSF).

During routine patrolling near Alasi village, the ADP encountered two suspicious individuals in the jungle, who hastily fled towards the Andhra border upon detecting the presence of the BSF ADP party. Undeterred by the evasive maneuvers of the suspects, the security forces meticulously combed the area, leading to a significant discovery.

The meticulous search yielded a substantial arsenal, including one Bharmar Gun (BML), a mobile phone with a JIO SIM card, a hand blower, a trigger mechanism, assorted tools such as pliers, hammers, saws, and chisels, along with raw materials and other paraphernalia essential for weapon fabrication. The exact location of the recovery was pinpointed as Alasi village under Sunki police station in Koraput district, underscoring the proximity of the illicit operation to inhabited areas.

With an aerial distance of 2.6 kilometers from Company Operating Base (COB) Sunki, the recovery site’s coordinates were documented as Latitude 18°29’49” and Longitude 83°02’17”, providing crucial information for subsequent investigations, as stated by the BSF.

The ADP party is currently enroute to COB Sunki, transporting the seized items for further analysis and legal proceedings. This successful operation stands as a testament to the valor and dedication exhibited by Inspector Sandeep Kerketta and the entire team involved, as acknowledged by the BSF.

Following protocol, an FIR has been lodged at Sunki police station, marking the initiation of legal proceedings against individuals involved in the illicit arms manufacturing activities. The seized items have been duly handed over to the Sunki police station, facilitating coordination between security forces and law enforcement agencies to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety of civilians in the region.

The busting of the Naxal arms workshop underscores the ongoing efforts of security forces to dismantle insurgent networks and safeguard the peace and stability of vulnerable regions. It serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threats posed by Naxal extremism and the unwavering commitment of security personnel to counter such threats, bolstering the resolve to eradicate insurgency and promote development and prosperity in affected areas.

This operation highlights the need for continued vigilance and proactive measures to curb the proliferation of illicit arms and disrupt the nefarious activities of extremist groups. It also underscores the crucial role of intelligence-sharing and inter-agency cooperation in effectively combating insurgency and ensuring the safety and security of communities residing in conflict-prone regions.

As security forces remain steadfast in their resolve to root out Naxalism and uphold the rule of law, the busting of the Naxal arms workshop in Koraput stands as a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against insurgency, reaffirming the commitment to peace, stability, and progress in the region.
