Two bitter rivals — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav — were seen shaking hands in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly as they took their oaths on Monday, March 28.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav took his oath as an MLA just minutes later. Pro-tem speaker Ramapati Shastri administered an oath to members of the House. Yadav has also been named as the Leader of the Opposition in the UP Assembly.
Yogi Adityanath won the recent Assembly polls from Gorakhpur Urban seat while Yadav was elected as an MLA from the Karhal assembly constituency.
In the election, the BJP and its allies won a majority with 273 seats. The SP won 111 seats in the 403-member assembly.
