Ahead of the high-stakes 2024 general elections, PM Modi will discuss good governance over dinner with UP cabinet ministers at Yogi Adityanath’s official residence in Lucknow today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will first stop over in Lucknow and dine with Uttar Pradesh Cabinet ministers at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence on Monday.
Sources said PM Modi will reportedly impart lessons of good governance during his dinner with all ministers in the BJP government in UP, which is just a couple of weeks into its second term.
This is only the second dinner for the prime minister being hosted at Yogi Adityanath’s official residence at 5 Kalidas Marg, Lucknow. The first was back in 2017, at the outset of his first stint as chief minister. At the time, several Opposition leaders like Mulayam Singh, Akhilesh Yadav, and Mayawati were invited to the soiree.
This time, however, the invitation is strictly limited to the council of ministers. PM Modi’s visit gains significance against the backdrop of the socio-religious upheaval in the state, and ahead of the high-stakes 2024 general elections.
After landing at Lucknow airport, PM Modi will arrive at the chief minister’s residence around 6 pm. His visit will last for three hours. He will be on his way back to New Delhi by 9 pm.
He will likely have a special word with the new faces in the Yogi Cabinet, inquire about their work and possibly set them tasks for the next six months, sources mentioned.
Earlier this year, the saffron party had said that the 2022 Assembly polls would lay the foundation of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
PM Modi’s personal interest in the governance of Uttar Pradesh is no secret. In the run-up to the UP assembly polls, he visited the state on many occasions and launched several multi-crore infrastructure and development projects. He is also a member of parliament from Varanasi.
