Huawei Technologies India has recently announced that its employees are engaged in bringing a positive change to the government-run schools in the villages of Bangalore. The employees made generous contribution towards providing desks, benches, books and stationery items for the students of Nallurahalli Government School, and sponsored school bags and books for all the students of Varthur Government School.
The funds for the desks and benches were mobilized through a charity run for its employees, early this year, to sponsor community development activities. Thirty desks and benches were provided to Nallurahalli Government School from the funds collected through the event. This has made a big difference to the school which lacked proper facilities for conducting classes.
Speaking on the same, Lakshman K, Headmaster, Government Higher Primary School, Nallurahalli, said, “The good quality benches provided by Huawei is benefiting about 100 children and adding to their quality of education and learning. There was a dire need for these benches before which the students sat on the bare floor. I would like to sincerely thank Huawei for providing us these benches.”
Recently, Huawei R&D centre has also organized its yearly “Fill the School Bag” campaign, to donate books and stationery material for underprivileged school children. The employees made generous donations of cash and stationery items such as books, pencil boxes, colour pencil sets, sketch pens, geometry boxes, drawing books, etc during the campaign. The funds were utilized to provide good quality school bags to the 360 students of Varthur Government School.
Shri Arvind Limbavali, ex-Minister for Higher Education and MLA of Mahadevapura Constituency, graced the event to donate the school bags.
Manohar TV, Headmaster of Varthur Government School, said, “We are very glad for the service provided by Huawei staff for our children like donation of school bags and stationery items. It is really worthy and helpful for our financially backward children for their education. It’s an encouraging act done, and we are very thankful.”
