  • The former head coach believes that the rift between Kohli and Ganguly is mere matter of opinion and not a controversy, but added that the latter should come out to provide an explanation after Kohli’s explosive presser earlier this week.

Former India head coach Madan Lal on Friday admitted that the rift between former India white-ball skipper Virat Kohli and the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is mere matter of opinion and not a controversy, but added that the latter should come out to provide an explanation after Kohli’s explosive presser earlier this week.

anguly had told PTI earlier this month that he had requested Kohli to reconsider his decision about leaving T20I captaincy, but Kohli, during his pre-departure presser for the South Africa tour on Wednesday, revealed that he had no such communication with the board’s President and that he was informed about his removal as ODI skipper one and a half hour before the selection meeting for the South Africa Test series.

“I think this situation should have been handled in a better way because it is not a controversy but a matter of opinion. I don’t know what Sourav had said to Virat so I don’t want to comment on that. But I think that Sourav being the President should come out and give an explanation and that will be the end of the entire issue. We need to be focused on the South Africa tour right now as it is an important game for us,” Madan Lal told ANI. (MANISH)
