Business tycoon Gautam Singhania recently announced his separation from his wife Nawaz Modi on social media and this news left everyone shocked. Later, it was reported that Nawaz had accused the billionaire industrialist of assaulting her and one of their daughters in a fit of rage.

While Modi has demanded 75% of his fortune of $1.4 billion for the divorce settlement, Gautam‘s dad Vijaypat told Business Today, “Why is she (Nawaz) fighting for 75%? Gautam is never going to give in, because his motto is – buy everybody and buy everything. That is what he did with me. By fighting like this, I don’t think she’ll get much. Unless she has, maybe, a person like Harish Salve, Mukul Rohatgi, Kapil Sibal.”

More than a week after Gautam Singhania announced separation from his wife of 32 years, Nawaz Modi Singhania, she has accused him of domestic violence. She claimed that the industrialist assaulted her and their minor daughter in a fit of rage after an argument.

In showbiz as well, we saw several celebs parting ways after being in a marriage for several years. While Aamir Khan separated from his first wife after 16 years of marital bliss, he divorced with second wife Kiran Rao after being together for 15 years. Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora also ended their 19 years of marriage after they got officially divorced in May 2017. Popular Tamil actor and filmmaker Dhanush tied the knot with Rajinikanth’s daughter Aishwarya in 2004 but the duo parted ways in 2022.

Well, this is not the first time we saw the demand of a staggering amount for the divorce settlement. In the past, many Bollywood celebs have got a huge alimony after divorce.

After 14 years of marital bliss, Hrithik Roshan and Sussane Khan got separated. While Khan demanded Rs 400 crore, the settlement was done at reportedly Rs 380 crore. Karisma Kapoor-Sunjay Kapoor- legally got divorced in May 2016. A lawyer involved in the case was quoted as saying, “Karisma will get Sunjay’s father’s house (in Khar) transferred in her name. Sunjay has to purchase bonds worth Rs. 14 crores for the children, which will attract a monthly interest of around Rs. 10 lakh.”

After the couple Farhan Akhtar-Adhuna Bhabani ended their marriage after 16 years, Farhan paid one-time alimony to Adhuna and she also got his 10,000 square feet bungalow in Bandstand, Mumbai named Vipassana.

After 13 years of marriage, Saif Ali Khan-Amrita Singh separated in 2004. Talking about the alimony, Saif said in an old interview, “I’m supposed to give Amrita Rs 5 crore, of which I’ve already given her approximately Rs 2.5 crore. Also, I’m paying Rs 1 lakh per month until my son becomes 18. I’m not Shah Rukh Khan. I don’t have that kind of money. I’ve promised her I’ll pay up the rest of the money, and I will, even if I’ve to slog till I drop dead.”
