The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked 20 YouTube Channels and two websites for spreading “fake news” and “anti-India propaganda” on Tuesday.

A press note from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Press Information Bureau said it had blocked the content in “a closely coordinated effort between intelligence agencies and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting” in two separate orders.

Separate instructions from the Ministry of I&B asked Youtube to take action against 20 Channels on its website, and the Department of Telecom directed internet service providers to block the two websites for disseminating anti-India propaganda.

The operation, according to reports, was the result of a tightly coordinated effort between intelligence services and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

“The channels and websites are part of a coordinated disinformation network based in Pakistan that spreads false information regarding numerous sensitive subjects related to India. As per the press release on PIB .

The channels were used to distribute contentious content on issues such as Kashmir, the Indian Army, minority populations in India, Ram Mandir, General Bipin Rawat, and others in an organised fashion “as per the source.
