Kerala CM Vijayan meets PM Modi in Delhi, likely to discuss buffer zones near forests

The Kerala government had decided to approach the Supreme Court seeking a relaxation in the order which states them to maintain a buffer zone of one kilometre around forests and sanctuaries across the country.

The areas near forests in Kerala are witnessing widespread protests against the proposal to demarcate the one-km buffer zone adjacent to protected areas. CM Vijayan is expected to discuss the issue with PM Modi.

While some party leaders backed P Jayarajan for bringing up the issue, EP loyalists state that it is an attempt to tarnish the leader’s image.
