Mahakumbh 2025: Over 8.1 Million Devotees Take Holy Dip at Sangam on Mahashivratri

Mahakumbh Mela 2025 Live: The Mahakumbh started on January 13. Paush Purnima is set to conclude today with Mahashivratri snan. On the last day of the grand religious gathering, thousands of devotees are expected to take a holy dip.

Mahakumbh 2025 Live: The Mahakumbh Mela, the world’s largest gathering, is set to conlcude today with Mahashivratri Snan. The Mahakumbh witnessed five holy bath among which three were Amrit Snan. While Makar Sanranti on January 14, Mauni Amavasya on January 29 and Basant Panchami on February 3 were Amrit Snans, Paus Purnima on January 13, Maghi Purnima on February 12 and Mahashivratri on February 26 were other important snan days. The government left no stone unturned to make it a successful event. The event became a centre of attraction for incorporating technology and making high-alert security measures.

Devotees take boat ride in River Ganga at Mahakumbh
A massive crowd of devotees took a holy dip in Triveni Sangam on Mahashivratri. Meanwhile, the devotees also took ride of the boat in the Rriver Ganga.

Parmarth Niketan Head Swami Chidanand Saraswati said, “The Maha Kumbh this time was amazing, divine and unforgettable. I can’t express in words… there was a sea of faith of crores of people. Who says India is divided… come to Kumbh and see… India was united, is united and will remain united. This Maha Kumbh has shown people the ‘shakti’ of ‘Sanatan’.”

Traffic running smoothly at Sahason Chowk

The traffic is running smoothly at Sahason Chowk despite a huge rush of devotees on the last day of the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Dhananjay, a resident of Ghaziabad, cycles over 600km to Prayagraj to attend Mahakumbh Mela. He said, “I have come from Ghaziabad…I started on Sunday at about 3AM and cycled continuously to reach here. I took small breaks during my ride. I am also promoting Fit India Movement, which is a great initiative by PM Modi. Nowadays, people have a busy schedule, screentime has increased… I have come to Kumbh with a message that people should take out some time from their busy schedule to exercise and be physically active.”

 

SSP Mahaumbh, Rajesh Dwivedi said, “Nobody wants to miss out on this opportunity. The people of the city of Prayagraj are also visiting this Snaan in huge numbers. That is why, since midnight, we are seeing a huge inflow of pilgrims. Because of our schemes, there is a very convenient outflow and everyone is glad to be a part of this occasion on Maha Shivratri. They are also visiting the Shiv Mandirs in the Maha Kumbh area in large numbers… As of today, the 65 crore mark has been reached…”
