Manufacturers’ Association of Information Technology (MAIT) has welcomed the decision by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to facilitate air lifting of consignments from China amidst the Coronavirus outbreak. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has reached out to MAIT for specific requirements from the IT and electronics manufacturing sector. MAIT has been working closely with the industry and ministries to minimize the pressure created due to the outbreak in China.

Almost two weeks after the official reopening date, many factories across China remain shuttered as of date which will cascade down to manufacturing in India as its supply of raw material and equipment is disrupted. However, this step by GoI to facilitate the airlifting of consignments to minimize the disruption is welcome and this move will bring together all stakeholders.

Nitin Kunkolienker, President, MAIT says, “As the representative of the electronics and IT manufacturing in India, it is our duty to voice the industry’s concerns and facilitate continuous growth. We would like to congratulate the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Ministry of Finance for planning and taking the proactive step, to facilitate airlifting of consignments from China to avoid any disruption in Indian manufacturing.”

MAIT is working closely with its member companies to collate the information requested by the ministry.
