Mercedes-Benz S-Class wins Premium Car Award 2022 by ICOTY

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class took home the Premium Car Award by ICOTY edging out the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S and the Volvo S60.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has won the Premium Car Award 2022 by ICOTY . The luxury sedan went against three of its own siblings from Mercedes, the AMG A 35, AMG GLA 35, AMG A 45 S and the Aston Martin DBX and Volvo S60 in the Premium Car Award category. The W223 S-Class made its debut in India last year, and is available in two variants, the S 350d and the S 450 4MATIC both of which are assembled in India.

With 153 points to its name, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class emerged as a clear winner in the category. The Mercedes-AMG A 45 S came second while the Volvo S60 finished third.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class S 350d is priced at Rs 1.58 crore (Ex-showroom) and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S 450 4MATIC is priced at Rs 1.65 crore(Ex-showroom).
The S-Class has for decades set the benchmark for luxury sedans, always staying steps ahead of the competition with the implementation of engineering, design and technology to provide the most comfortable and premium package in the market. The W223 S-Class that was launched last year is offered in India in two variants, the S350 d and the S 450 4MATIC

Features list for the S-Class is exhaustive, but some highlights include a completely flush buttonless cabin dominated by screens and luxurious materials, four-zone automatic climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, Burmester audio system, fully adjustable reclining rear seats with memory function, heated/cooled seats, massage function, MBUX operating system and many more.

Power wise, the S 350 d gets a 2.9-litre diesel unit making 286bhp and 600Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an automatic transmission that only powers the rear wheels. This car can accelerate from a standstill to a hundred in 6.4 seconds. The S 450 4MATIC gets a 3.0-litre petrol unit with a 48V electric motor, producing 389bhp and 750Nm of torque. This car accelerates even faster with a 5.1 second dash to a hundred. Also available is Mercedes’ 4MATIC AWD system. Both the cars ride on specially tuned for comfort air suspension.
