Apple Expands Footprint with New Pune Store at Koregaon Park

Apple’s Growing Bet on India

Apple, the world’s most valuable technology company, has been steadily expanding its retail network in India, one of its fastest-growing markets. On September 4, 2025, the tech giant opened its first store in Pune—Apple Koregaon Park—marking its fourth official outlet in the country. With India becoming central to Apple’s global strategy, the launch underscores both the rising consumer demand for premium devices and the company’s intent to cement its long-term presence in the subcontinent.

Apple’s Retail Network in India

Apple’s first physical store in India, Apple BKC, opened in Mumbai in April 2023, followed closely by Apple Saket in Delhi and Apple Hebbal in Bengaluru. The Pune outlet is the latest addition to this network. Globally, Apple Stores are known not just for retail but for creating experiential spaces where customers interact with products, attend creative sessions, and access top-tier support.

In terms of scale, Apple operates over 520 stores worldwide, with the U.S. accounting for around 270 outlets. China, its second-largest retail market, has more than 45 stores, contributing billions annually to Apple’s global revenue. India’s four stores are modest in comparison, but the rapid expansion signals Apple’s recognition of India as the next growth engine. According to Counterpoint Research, Apple’s India revenue crossed $8 billion in FY 2024—double its earnings from just three years ago.

Pune Store: Design, Team, and Sustainability

The Koregaon Park outlet, like Apple’s other stores, has been designed with sustainability at its core. Operating entirely on renewable energy, it is carbon-neutral, reflecting Apple’s global pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030.

The store is staffed by 68 employees from 11 different states across India, each trained to provide multilingual assistance and specialized product knowledge. This diversity not only enhances customer service but also reflects Apple’s inclusive hiring practices in India.

Products and Services at Koregaon Park

The Pune store offers Apple’s complete product ecosystem, including the iPhone 16 series, MacBooks, iPads, Apple Watches, and AirPods. Accessories like AirTags and exclusive add-ons are also available.

In addition, customers will soon access the highly anticipated iPhone 17 range at selected Apple Stores, including Pune. Financing options, Apple Trade In for device upgrades, and a dedicated Apple Pickup zone for online order collection ensure convenience and affordability.

To mark the launch, Apple has introduced free custom wallpapers, a Pune-inspired Apple Music playlist, and daily “Today at Apple” sessions tailored for students, creators, and professionals. Personalized support, including step-by-step migration from Android to iOS, enhances the customer experience.

Broader Economic Impact

Apple’s retail strategy in India goes beyond brand presence. The company’s local sourcing from Indian partners such as Tata Electronics, Foxconn, and Wistron has created tens of thousands of jobs, both directly and indirectly. iPhone exports from India exceeded $12 billion in FY 2024, strengthening India’s position as a global manufacturing hub.

Retail stores further stimulate the local economy—through hiring, supply chain integration, and consumer spending. Each new Apple outlet serves as both a cultural landmark and an economic multiplier for its host city, drawing thousands of daily visitors and boosting surrounding businesses.

India at the Core of Apple’s Future

The opening of Apple Koregaon Park is more than just a retail expansion; it represents Apple’s deeper integration into India’s economic and cultural fabric. While four stores may seem small compared to the U.S. or China, the trajectory is clear—India is no longer a secondary market but a primary growth frontier.

As India’s middle class expands and digital adoption accelerates, Apple’s mix of premium products, sustainability efforts, and experiential retail is likely to resonate strongly. Pune’s store is thus both a symbol and a strategy—an investment in India’s consumers today, and in the country’s role as a cornerstone of Apple’s global future.
