The system, named ALAISA (Aluminium AI Support Agent), is currently operational at BALCO’s smelter complex in Chhattisgarh and is designed to enhance shop-floor efficiency, safety, and workforce capability.
What is ALAISA?
ALAISA is a first-of-its-kind humanoid support agent that integrates conversational artificial intelligence with plant-specific operational data. It provides real-time guidance on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Maintenance Practices (SMPs), and critical safety protocols directly on the shop floor.
Unlike traditional training methods, the system acts as an interactive interface, enabling workers to access instant information and operational support while performing tasks. This reduces downtime, improves decision-making, and ensures adherence to safety standards in high-intensity industrial environments.
Strengthening Workforce Skills
In its initial rollout phase, ALAISA has already trained over 100 employees at BALCO. The system offers structured learning modules, real-time query resolution, and built-in assessments that allow supervisors to track employee understanding and skill development.
Early feedback from workers suggests that the AI assistant has improved access to technical knowledge and boosted confidence during live operations. Employees have reported faster resolution of operational queries and a more engaging training experience compared to conventional methods.
