NTPC – NETRA Signs MoA with CIPET to accelerate the production of Multi-MW Floating PV plants

NETRA (NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance), the R&D arm of NTPC has signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) recently with Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET) to accelerate the renewable drive by establishing the technology framework for development & production of floaters for Multi-MW Floating photovoltaic (PV) plants.

 

The MoA was signed by Shri Shaswattam, General Manager, NETRA and Dr. M. Abdul Kader, Principal Director, CIPET in the presence of Shri R K Srivastava, Executive Director, NETRA, Shri P D Hirani, General Manager, NETRA and other officials.

 

NTPC as a part of its commitment to Renewable Energy, and firmly guided by its philosophy of power generation is intricately intertwined with social and environmental growth. NTPC is thoroughly dedicated to generate reliable energy at competitive prices in a sustained manner employing a mix of energy sources and using innovative eco-friendly technologies. NTPC – NETRA and CIPET team will be working together towards building comprehensive quality plans, to increase the vendor base and capacity building in the area of Floater production & maintenance technologies.

With the same objective, NTPC had set-up NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA) a state-of-the-art centre for research, technology development and scientific services in the domain of electric power.  The R&D efforts of NETRA are guided by Research Advisory Council (RAC) comprising of eminent scientists and experts from India and abroad to steer high end research. NETRA focuses on areas of Efficiency Improvement & Cost Reduction; New & Renewable Energy; Climate Change & Environmental Protection which includes Water Conservation; Ash Utilization; Waste Management and Advanced Scientific Services, etc.
