The sixth edition of the prestigious ET GBS Global Summit 2020 kicked off today at the Taj Palace Hotel here. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Guest and was welcomed by Vineet Jain, MD, The Times of India Group.
Addressing the gathering of global influencers and business disruptors, Prime Minister Modi said, “The government is trying to bring each section of society out of inaction. For us, good governance, development and nation-building is a conviction to do the right thing and break the status quo,” he said. “Our policies are clear, and the fundamentals are strong and India is moving ahead using the mantra of collaborating to create.”
He described his government policies as systematic efforts to break the silos and improve things at the ground level. The Prime Minister said, “The country is going through massive change. India has become an important part of the global economy. The global situation is going through a churning, but we have taken all steps to reduce its impact on the economy.” Regarding the theme of the summit, PM Modi said that “collaborate to create is the foundation for sustainable growth in the future.”
The theme of this year’s summit is “Collaborate to Create – Sustainable Growth in a Fractured World”. Day one saw an A-list of business leaders speaking on diverse themes such as women’s rights, building future cities, creating sustainable businesses and exchanged views on disruptions in business.
