PM Modi to Launch Mega Development Projects in Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth ₹2 lakh crore during his two-day visit to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha starting today, January 8. The initiatives are aimed at bolstering green energy, industrial growth, and infrastructure development.


Key Projects in Visakhapatnam

  1. NTPC Green Hydrogen Hub
    • India’s first green hydrogen hub under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
    • Capacity to produce 1,500 TPD (tonnes per day) green hydrogen and 7,500 TPD derivatives like green methanol, green urea, and sustainable aviation fuel.
    • Targeting the export market, contributing to India’s goal of achieving 500 GW non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.
  2. Bulk Drug Park at Nakkapalli
    • Strategically located near the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor and the Visakhapatnam-Kakinada Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region.
    • Expected to generate thousands of jobs and drive economic growth in the region.
  3. South Coast Railway Headquarters
    • The foundation stone for the new headquarters will be laid in Visakhapatnam, a key move to enhance regional connectivity and operations.
  4. Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City)
    • Located in Tirupati District, under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor.
    • A greenfield industrial smart city projected to attract ₹10,500 crore in investments and create 1 lakh jobs.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Odisha

PM Modi will inaugurate the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention in Bhubaneswar on January 9.

  • Theme: Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat.
  • Over 50 countries represented by members of the Indian diaspora.
  • Launch of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a special tourist train under the Pravasi Teertha Darshan Yojana, offering a three-week journey across cultural and religious destinations.
