PM Modi’s Visit to Maharashtra: Foundation Stone for Vadhvan Port and Address at Global Fintech Fest

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Maharashtra today to lay the foundation stone for the Vadhvan Port project in Palghar, which is valued at Rs 76,000 crores. This deepwater port is expected to become one of India’s largest, significantly enhancing the nation’s maritime connectivity by accommodating large box vessels and ultra-massive shipment ships. The project is anticipated to create substantial employment opportunities and contribute to regional economic growth while adhering to strict environmental standards.

In addition to the port project, PM Modi will address the Global Fintech Fest 2024 in Mumbai at the Jio World Convention Centre. This event highlights India’s advancements in the fintech sector and brings together key stakeholders, including over 800 speakers from international policymakers and industry leaders. The conference, organized by the Payments Council of India and other prominent bodies, will also feature the release of more than 20 thought leadership reports and white papers, showcasing the latest innovations in fintech.

In his post on social media platform X, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the visit: “I look forward to being among the people of Maharashtra tomorrow, 30th August. I will take part in programmes in Mumbai and Palghar. In Mumbai, I will take part in the Global Fintech Fest 2024 at around 11 AM. This platform showcases India’s strides in the world of Fintech and brings together key stakeholders of the sector. Thereafter, I will be in Palghar for the foundation stone laying programme of the Vadhvan Port project. This is a very important project, signifying our commitment to port-led development and to the progress of Maharashtra.”

Furthermore, PM Modi will inaugurate 218 fisheries projects worth approximately Rs 1,560 crores, aimed at boosting infrastructure and productivity in India’s fisheries sector. These initiatives are expected to generate over five lakh employment opportunities. Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch the National Roll Out of the Vessel Communication and Support system, designed to enhance the safety and communication of fishermen at sea through indigenous technology developed by ISRO.
