Russia-Ukraine war: Modi ministers on war duty; Scindia, Rijiju, 2 others to go to Europe to oversee evacuation

Following a second high-level meeting on the Ukraine crisis, PM Modi has directed Union ministers to travel to Ukraine’s neighbouring nations to oversee evacuation of Indian nationals.

For the second day in a row, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, with evacuation of Indian nationals from the country a top priority on the agenda.

Following discussions, it was decided that Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and Gen VK Singh would be dispatched to Ukraine’s neighbouring nations to coordinate evacuation operations, sources said.

Scindia will take care of evacuation ops from Romania and Moldova while Rijiju will go to Slovakia. Sources said that Puri will travel to Hungary while Singh will be in Poland to manage the evacuation.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, NSA Ajit Doval, Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju were among those present at the meeting.
