Leading FemTech brand in India, Sirona is conducting Self-Defence Workshops under its self-defence brand Impower in association with Cuttlefish. These workshops are being conducted free of cost for women and children living in unpriviledged conditions by the Sirona Hygiene Foundation – the CSR arm of Sirona.

The brand has successfully organized two training sessions in Delhi last month – one at Signature Bridge Refugee Camp in partnership with Humanitarian Aid International (HAI) and the other at Mehramnagar Village (West) with Pedal On (Social Arm of SecondAct). Almost 100 women and children attended this workshop and benefited from it. The workshop educates them on essential techniques they should know to protect themselves and get out of an unsafe situation. These workshops are being conducted in collaboration with Cuttlefish, a leading self defence training company.

Some of the self-defence techniques taught include:

  • Techniques to escape a hand grip, hair grab, pin down
  • Choke neck defense (The Japanese Noose)
  • How to escape a perpetrator when on the ground/sleeping
  • Running to a public place after escaping the perpetrator
  • How a child can foil a kidnapping bid

The session was followed by the distribution of Sirona Impower Pepper Spray among girls and women above 15 years of age, while explaining its usage and associated hazards in detail.

Elaborating on the initiative, Dr Aarushi Kehar Malhotra, Lead – CSR Initiatives at Sirona said,” We at Sirona are focused on providing not only the required training but also helping people stay equipped and ready for any tricky situation. Through this workshop, we are trying to empower those who need protection and enable a positive change.”

Shikher Gupta, Founder, Cuttlfish Fitness said, “I was the head of Marketing at one of India’s largest Consumer Durables companies when I represented India in the European Karate Championships in 2018. I got invitations to conduct self-defense workshops across corporates and discovered the happiness of bringing confidence to many lives. Working with Sirona Hygiene Foundation provides a platform to enable the communities that need this knowledge the most. The gratitude they share is worth all the effort. I appreciate Cuttlfish’s collaboration with Sirona in this program and wish to achieve great heights in the future.”

Sirona’s soul lies in giving back to society. From initiatives like AAAN that helped sex workers of GB road switch to menstrual cups to contributing a rupee from the sale of every product Sirona sold to the  Sirona Hygiene Foundation, the brand undertakes social responsibility initiatives diligently. Sirona so far has donated over 5000 cups to underprivileged menstruators in an effort to reduce period poverty under its Laakhon Khwahishein Project.
