The ruling TRS party in Telangana took out a state-wide protest against the Rs 50 price hike on domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinders. Industries minister KT Rama Rao hit out against the centre and said that the LPG price hike has become a burden on the poor people.

Telangana Industries Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday slammed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre, saying citizens were troubled with the constantly rising prices of gas cylinders in the country. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) took out large scale protest across the state over the issue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘failed’ economic policies were ‘adversely’ affecting the common man, said minister KTR. Ministers, TRS MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party presidents and workers participated in this program and expressed their protest. Women also joined the demonstration with gas cylinders.

Protesters demanded that the central BJP government immediately reduce gas cylinder prices, which have become a heavy burden on the poor.

This comes a day after the centre increased the rate of domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinders by Rs 50. KTR claimed that under the BJP rule, the cooking gas prices have increased 170 per cent in the country. He alleged the BJP had created a world record for selling the most expensive gas.

“With the recent increase of Rs 50, the country has seen a whopping Rs. 244 price increase on each gas cylinder this year alone,” he noted. Terming the price rise as ‘very unfortunate’, he said it shows the “inefficiency” of the BJP government in the country.

Minister KTR said that under PM Modi’s governance, the common man was finding it difficult to run a house on a budget and that no BJP leader was concerned about these problems.

The Centre is taking away the present jobs instead of creating new ones, which affects common people’s financial condition, making harder for them to survive, alleged KTR.

“The country is going through a difficult time where the BJP government is unable to control inflation,” KTR said.
