UP cabinet meeting: The meeting will be attended by over 24 senior ministers from the Uttar Pradesh government, along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Director General of Police (DGP), and Director of Information.

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet will hold a meeting in Ayodhya today (November 9) to oversee preparations for Diwali festival and the progress of the work at the under-construction site of the Ram Temple. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will spend approximately four hours in Ayodhya, attending the cabinet meeting and overseeing preparations for Diwali.

“The Chief Minister is scheduled to arrive at Ramkatha Park at around 11:00 pm. After that, he will have darshan and offer prayers at Hanumangarhi with his cabinet colleagues. Subsequently, they will worship at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi complex and the Shri Ram Lala Virajman temple. The meeting will take place at the International Ramkatha Museum at around noon,” an official statement said.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Yogi Adityanath is the first Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh’s history to hold cabinet meetings outside the state capital.

“Similar meetings were previously held during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj in 2019, where cabinet members participated in a holy bath at the Sangam. Additionally, a cabinet meeting was conducted in Kashi. Continuing this tradition, the Yogi Cabinet will now convene in Ayodhya, the revered birthplace of Lord Shri Ram Lalla,” an official statement said.

How many ministers will attend cabinet meet?

The meeting will be attended by over 24 senior ministers from the Uttar Pradesh government, along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Director General of Police, and Director of Information.

History to be created in Uttar Pradesh:

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet will create history of sorts on Thursday when it holds its cabinet meeting in Ayodhya even as the city gears up for the opening of the Ram temple in January.

Why November 9 is relevant?:

The date- November 9- holds significance as the Supreme Court (SC) on this date in 2019, passed its verdict in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case, paving the way for the construction of the Ram temple.

In 1989, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) conducted a ‘shilanyas’ (foundation stone laying) for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on November 9. All cabinet Ministers have been asked to be in Ayodhya for the cabinet meeting at 11.30 am on Thursday, Ayodhya District Magistrate Nitish Kumar said.

Ministers who are on election duty in other states will also ensure their presence at the meeting. It is also expected that some major announcements will be made during the meeting, considering the importance of the location and the occasion.

The Ministers will also go for Ram Lalla’s ‘darshan’ and may even take a round of the under-construction Ram temple and other prominent temples, including Hanumangarhi temple and Kanak Bhawan, official sources said.

The construction of the ground floor of the three-storey Ram temple will be completed by December-end and the consecration ceremony is expected to take place on January 22, 2024.
