A50-year-old woman in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati killed her husband and beheaded him over suspicions of infidelity.

The accused, identified as Vasundhara, stabbed her husband Ravichandar (53) to death and lopped off his head. She then walked into a local police station with her spouse’s severed head, and surrendered.

The incident shocked the small temple town of Renigunta in Tirupati district after coming to light on Thursday.

Businessman Ravichandar and Vasundhara were married for the past 25 years. They have a 20-year-old son and lived at Bugga Street in Renigunta.

According to reports, the couple’s marital life had been smooth sailing for the most part. However, they hit a rough patch recently and used to quarrel often. On Thursday, a verbal altercation broke out between Vasundhara and Ravichandar, who had come home late the night before.

Police said Vasundhara stabbed Ravichandar indiscriminately to death, severed his head, and arrived at the police station in an auto, with her husband’s head wrapped in a plastic bag. She then turned herself in.

A case has been registered and Ravichandar’s body shifted to Tirupati Ruai Hospital for post mortem.

The police are yet to know the full details and motive behind the murder, but believe Vasundhara suspected Ravichandar of having an extramarital affair, which angered her.
