The Biden administration announced new sanctions on Friday against Cuba’s national revolutionary police and its top two officials as the U.S. looks to increase pressure on the communist government following this month’s protests on the island. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a petition filed by senior journalists N. Ram and Sashi Kumar next week for an independent probe on the mass surveillance of more than 142 potential “targets” using the military-grade Israeli spyware Pegasus.
