Ahead of the Gujarat Assembly election to be held later this year, AAP leaders Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal visited the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on Saturday.

The two Aam Aadmi Party leaders also spun the charkha at Mahatma Gandhi’s ashram.

The pair’s two-day Ahmedabad trip comes ahead of the Assembly election in the state, which is slated to be held in December this year. Last year, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal had declared that his party would contest all 182 seats in the state election.

The AAP is still riding the wave of its recent sweeping victory in the Punjab Assembly election

It felt so good to be at this place. There is a very different feeling here,” said Bhagwant Mann. He added, “In Punjab, in everyone’s house there is one charkha. We are so attached to Gandhiji. We are nationalist people, we love our country and people.”

In the ashram’s visitor book, Arvind Kejriwal wrote, “This ashram is a spiritual place. It seems as if Gandhiji’s spirit resides here. Coming here gives a spiritual feeling. I consider myself blessed to have been born in the country in which Gandhiji was born.
