The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has extended Jailed AAP leader Manish Sisodia’s Enforcement Directorate remand by five more days in connection with the alleged liquor policy case. The ED told the court that crucial information had come up during Sisodia’s custody and he had to be confronted with other accused persons.

It said voluminous data from Sisodia’s email and mobile is also being forensically analysed. Sisodia’s lawyer, in response, said there is not a whisper from the agency regarding the proceeds of the crime, which is fundamental to the case. Opposing the Enforcement Directorate’s plea seeking further custody Sisodia, his lawyer asked the court “is ED a proxy agency of CBI?” Sisodia was produced before the Rouse Avenue district court after the 7-day ED remand expired today.

In other news, Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena’s inaugural address of the Budget session was interrupted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs, who demanded the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Budget will be presented on March 21.
