In a move meant to curb benami transactions and the use of black money in real estate deals, the government is planning to make Aadhaar-based authentication mandatory at the time of registration of documents such as agreement for sale, power of attorney and among others. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has announced a relief package of over Rs. 2000 cr. for relief, rehabilitation, reconstruction and flood mitigation measures in the flood-affected North-Eastern state yesterday. The Income Tax Department has extended the date of filing of income tax returns (ITRs) till August 5. Earlier, July 31st was the last day for filing the returns but due to large number of applications, the Department has extended the deadline.   More than two cr. returns have been filed electronically for the financial year 2016-17.
