Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a vibrant roadshow in Odisha’s capital on Friday (June 20) and inaugurated a slew of development projects worth over ₹18,700 crore, marking a significant boost to the state’s infrastructure and growth roadmap.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined the Prime Minister during the landmark event, which also commemorated two key governance milestones: 11 years of the Central Government under PM Modi and 1 year of the BJP-led Odisha Government. CM Majhi felicitated PM Modi, acknowledging his leadership and commitment to Odisha’s progress.

Major Boost Across Critical Sectors

During his visit, PM Modi launched and laid the foundation stone for various projects covering vital sectors such as:

Drinking Water Supply Systems
Irrigation and Agricultural Infrastructure
Upgradation of Health Facilities
Rural Roads and Bridges
New National Highway Sections
A New Railway Line Extending Connectivity to Boudh District for the First Time

This historic rail project will connect Boudh district to India’s national railway network for the first time. PM Modi also flagged off new train services to mark this milestone.

Push for Green Urban Mobility

Taking a step toward sustainable transport, the Prime Minister flagged off 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) initiative. This move is expected to modernise and eco-optimize Odisha’s urban transport infrastructure.

Unveiling Odisha Vision 2036–2047

PM Modi also released the ‘Odisha Vision 2036–2047’ document, which outlines a strategic roadmap for the state’s inclusive and future-ready development. The plan aligns with two major upcoming milestones:

2036: 100 years of Odisha as India’s first linguistic state
2047: 100 years of India’s independence

Preserving Heritage: Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana

Honouring Odisha’s distinguished personalities, the Prime Minister launched the Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana, an initiative to develop their birthplaces into living heritage sites. These sites will feature museums, statues, libraries, and interpretation centres to boost cultural tourism.

Celebrating Women Empowerment

Highlighting the Centre’s focus on empowering women, PM Modi felicitated over 16.5 lakh ‘Lakhpati Didis’ — women achievers who represent self-reliance and economic prosperity across the state.

In a social media post, the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office underscored the Prime Minister’s dedication to “good governance, dedicated service, and the welfare of the poor.” Public enthusiasm was palpable as thousands lined the streets to greet PM Modi during the colourful roadshow, making the event a momentous celebration of progress and unity.
