Indian Government inks $200-million loan agreement with World Bank for Assam project

The Government of India and the World Bank have signed a $200-million loan agreement for the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project.   The Project will support the Government of Assam to facilitate agribusiness investments, increase agriculture productivity and market access, and enable small farm holders produce crops that are resilient to recurrent floods or droughts in the state.   The $200-million loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) has a 7-year grace period, and a maturity of 16.5 years.   The agreement for the Project was…

76% LED bulb brands disregards consumer’s safety standards in India: Nielsen study

In a Nielsen study conducted across four major Indian cities – New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmadabad and Hyderabad, 76% of LED Bulb brands and 71% of LED down lighter brands across 200 electrical retail outlets were found to be non-compliant with consumer safety standards, as prescribed and mandated for lighting products by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India have signed a $65.5 million loan agreement in the national capital to continue interventions to check coastal erosion on the Western Coast in Karnataka. Firms should use CSR funds for Ganga cleanup – Nitin Gadkari
