Bomb explodes at Lucknow court, injures three lawyers
A crude bomb reportedly went off in a Lucknow court compound on Thursday, “injuring” three lawyers in an incident which police said was triggered by rivalry between two groups. Two live bombs were recovered, police said. But they added that nobody appeared to have seen or heard the blast, which a lawyer claimed, took place outside his chambers. 112-year-old Japanese named world’s oldest living man
Centenarian Japanese man Chitetsu Watanabe has been named as the world’s oldest living man at the age of 112 years and 344 days. Chitetsu lived in Taiwan for 18 years, where he worked in a sugar cane plantation. He returned to Japan after WWII, and worked as a civil servant till his retirement. India’s industrial output shrinks in December owing to decline in manufacturing sector
Weighed down by a major decline in the manufacturing sector, India’s industrial output, measured in Index of Industrial Production (IIP), shrunk by 0.3 per cent in December after a rebound of 1.8 per cent in November. The country’s factory production growth contracted in three of the last four months, indicating a persistent structural slowdown in the economy. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has caught a passenger trying to smuggle Rs 45 lakh worth of international currency.
