Omar Abdullah and Nidhi Razdan Tie the Knot in a Quiet Delhi Ceremony

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior television journalist Nidhi Razdan are now married, after a low-key ceremony in New Delhi that brought together two well-known names from Indian politics and media.

Abdullah, 56, shared the news on Saturday in a social media post, saying a new chapter in his life had begun a day earlier. He tagged Razdan in the post and included four photographs of the couple together.

The wedding was reportedly registered on Friday under the Special Marriage Act, with close relatives from both families signing as witnesses. In keeping with the couple’s wish for privacy, the occasion was limited to a small circle of family.

Celebrations were reportedly held in both New Delhi and Srinagar. Rather than a large public event, they were intimate family gatherings attended by immediate relatives.

On Abdullah’s side, the guests included his parents, former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and Mollie Abdullah, as well as his three sisters and other family members. Razdan’s parents, veteran journalist M. K. Razdan and Sarla Razdan, also attended.

This is the second marriage for both. Abdullah’s earlier marriage to Payal Abdullah was dissolved by a Supreme Court order in July 2026 after the two reached a settlement. Razdan, 49, has also been married before.

The wedding has drawn wide interest, given Abdullah’s role as one of the most prominent political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir and Razdan’s long and recognised career in television journalism. For both, it marks an important personal milestone, celebrated away from the public spotlight.
