Trump Rants Again About India-Pakistan Ceasefire After Pakistan Nominates Him for Nobel Peace Prize

In a dramatic turn of events, Pakistan has announced via the social media platform X that it is nominating former US President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, crediting his “decisive diplomatic role” during the recent four-day conflict between India and Pakistan.

The announcement comes shortly after Trump’s rare private meeting at the White House with Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, held amid heightened regional tensions.

However, India has categorically rejected Islamabad’s claims, asserting that the ceasefire was agreed upon solely between New Delhi and Islamabad, without any mediation by the US or Trump. This was also communicated directly to Trump by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent phone call.

Trump Claims Credit — Again

Trump, known for repeatedly touting his self-styled peace achievements, went on a fresh rant on Friday, insisting he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize not just for India and Pakistan but for various global interventions.

“I should have gotten it four or five times,” Trump said, claiming bias in the awarding process. On his Truth Social platform, he wrote:

“I won’t get a Nobel Prize for stopping the war between India and Pakistan, for Serbia and Kosovo, for Egypt and Ethiopia, or for the Abraham Accords in the Middle East… No matter what I do — Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran — they won’t give it to me. But the people know, and that’s all that matters to me!”

Behind the Nomination

Insiders suggest that the Pakistan Army Chief’s meeting with Trump played a key role in Islamabad’s decision to publicly nominate him for the prestigious international award. While no official readout of the meeting has been released, sources indicate that discussions centered on regional security and future diplomatic cooperation.

India Maintains Clear Position

Meanwhile, India maintains that the ceasefire agreement was a bilateral decision between the two nations alone, with no third-party involvement. Officials in New Delhi have reiterated that Pakistan approached India directly to de-escalate hostilities — a version firmly at odds with Trump’s narrative.

  • Pakistan nominates Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
