Bypoll Results LIVE: Prashant Kishor Leads in Bankipur; BJP Ahead in Manjalpur, Congress in Datia

Bypoll Results LIVE: The results of Assembly bypolls in Bihar's Bankipur, Madhya Pradesh's Datia and Gujarat's Manjalpur will be declared today after voting was held on July 30. Bankipur and Datia are being seen as prestige contests for the BJP as both are traditional party strongholds.

The results of the Assembly bypolls held in three states, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, will be declared today, with all eyes on the high-profile contests in Bihar's Bankipur and Madhya Pradesh's Datia. Counting of votes began at 8 am after polling for all three constituencies was conducted on July 30. Along with these two politically significant seats, the result for Gujarat's Manjalpur assembly constituency will also be announced.

The bypolls are being seen as an important political test for both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, particularly in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, where the outcome is expected to influence the political narratives.

Among the three seats, Bankipur and Datia have emerged as the most closely watched contests, with both considered traditional BJP strongholds. The saffron party is looking to retain these seats, which has made the bypolls a prestige battle for its state leadership. Bankipur was represented by BJP national president Nitin Nabin before the seat fell vacant. The constituency has long been regarded as one of the BJP's safest urban seats in the state.

Manjalpur Counting Round 4: BJP's Satish Patel takes commanding lead
BJP candidate Satish Patel (Satendrabhai Patel) has surged ahead in the Manjalpur Assembly bypoll, leading by 8,373 votes after the completion of the fourth round of counting. Patel has secured 12,941 votes, while his Congress rival Bhikhabhai Rabari has polled 4,568 votes. With four rounds completed, the BJP has established a comfortable early advantage, though several rounds of counting are still remaining.

Datia counting Round 2: Congress edges past BJP as counting continues
The contest in the Datia Assembly bypoll remains closely fought after the second round of counting. In Round 2, the Congress candidate polled 3,921 votes, edging ahead of the BJP candidate in the round. The BJP secured 3,702 votes, while the Azad Samaj Party received 1,533 votes in the second round. Overall trends will become clearer as more rounds of counting are completed.

BJP eyes sixth straight win in Bankipur
The BJP has remained unbeaten in the Bankipur Assembly seat since 1995, when the constituency was known as Patna West. The seat fell vacant after BJP national president Nitin Nabin resigned as MLA following his election to the Rajya Sabha in April. Nabin had won the seat for a fifth consecutive term in the 2025 Assembly elections, defeating RJD candidate Rekha Gupta by a margin of more than 50,000 votes. The bypoll is now being closely watched to see if the BJP can retain its long-standing stronghold.

Bankipur Results: Prashant Kishor leads by 862 votes
Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor is leading by 862 votes over his BJP rival Neeraj Kumar in Bihar's Bankipur bypoll after the first round of counting. Kishor has secured 2,225 votes, while Kumar has polled 1,363 votes. RJD candidate Rekha Kumari is currently in third place with 505 votes.
