Supporting this claim, SpaceX reported $2.2 billion in AI solutions and infrastructure revenue during the quarter. It also disclosed that it had secured an additional $6.7 billion in cloud contracts since the end of the second quarter, indicating strong customer demand for its expanding AI capabilities.
Nevertheless, investors remain cautious. While the revenue outlook appears promising, markets are questioning whether such unprecedented levels of spending can consistently translate into sustainable profitability and long-term shareholder returns.
Expanding Compute Capacity at an Extraordinary Pace
SpaceX executives revealed that the company's compute capacity reached 1.4 gigawatts during the second quarter and is expected to exceed two gigawatts by the end of the year. Elon Musk has projected an even more ambitious target of 10 gigawatts by the end of next year, underscoring the company's determination to become one of the world's largest AI infrastructure providers.
The company also announced that future AI infrastructure will be built exclusively using Nvidia chips, reinforcing its commitment to deploying cutting-edge hardware capable of supporting increasingly complex AI workloads.
