Empowering India’s Future: PM Modi Hands Over 51,000 Government Job Letters

A Transformational Push for Youth Employment

In a landmark initiative under the Government of India’s continued push to transform the youth employment landscape, Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited government employees on Saturday. The event, part of the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela (Employment Fair), was held simultaneously at 47 locations across the country via video conferencing. This initiative is a key element in India’s mission to create a Viksit Bharat” — a developed nation — by placing the youth at the center of governance, service, and productivity.

Transparent Recruitment for a Resilient Workforce

Describing the new recruits as “soldiers of nation building,” PM Modi highlighted the transparent, corruption-free recruitment process — proudly declaring it a system of “without slip, without expense.” Since the Employment Fair initiative began on October 22, 2022, over 10 lakh young Indians have secured government jobs through a streamlined and digitized process. The Prime Minister emphasized that such measures reflect the government’s deep commitment to youth empowerment and administrative efficiency.

The new employees will serve in critical departments including Railways, Home Affairs, Posts, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services, and Industrial Development. While the ministries may vary, the common purpose, Modi said, is to serve the nation and contribute to its progress.

Aligning Careers with National Goals

Urging the new recruits to dedicate the next 20–25 years of their careers to nation-building, PM Modi framed employment as both a personal milestone and a national responsibility. He referenced a recent International Labour Organization (ILO) report noting that over 90 crore people have benefited from central welfare schemes in the last decade. These efforts, he added, have not only improved social security but also indirectly generated millions of jobs across the country.

Stimulating Private Sector Hiring: Employment Linked Incentives

The Prime Minister also spotlighted efforts beyond the public sector, particularly the recently approved Employment Linked Incentive Scheme. Designed to boost hiring in the private sector, the scheme offers financial assistance of ₹15,000 to employers for every first-time jobholder they recruit. With a total budget allocation of ₹1 lakh crore, this policy aims to create approximately 3.5 crore new jobs across industries — positioning it as one of the most ambitious employment initiatives in recent times.

Digital Learning to Enhance Skills

To ensure long-term growth and competence, Modi announced that all new appointees will gain access to more than 1,400 e-learning modules through the iGOT Karmayogi digital portal. These courses are tailored to build professional skills, efficiency, and readiness for future responsibilities, thereby embedding continuous learning into government service.

A Youth-Led Growth Story

As India accelerates toward becoming the third-largest economy in the world, the government's emphasis on youth-centric employment is not just policy — it's vision. By aligning career aspirations with national goals and promoting a fair, inclusive, and skill-oriented hiring ecosystem, initiatives like the Rozgar Mela are redefining public service and economic growth in India. Prime Minister Modi’s call to the youth is clear: seize these opportunities not just for a job, but for a generational role in shaping a developed, self-reliant India.
