Piyush Goyal on Thursday met global industry leaders to reinforce India’s push for deeper manufacturing, stronger supply chains, and faster innovation. The Union Commerce Minister later shared highlights of the engagements on X, outlining how multinational partnerships can accelerate India’s industrial rise.
During talks with Michael L. Gierges, regional president at Carrier, discussions centered on the company’s growing India footprint. The dialogue explored technology investments, advanced manufacturing, and expanding localisation across the value chain to reinforce domestic capability.
Goyal also reviewed the India roadmap of Matthew Zielinski, who leads international markets at Lenovo. The exchange covered the firm’s operational expansion and its continued commitment to Indian partners and customers.
Earlier, the minister met innovators at the INDovation MedTech Innovation & Startup Showcase, felicitating winners and encouraging entrepreneurs to design affordable and scalable healthcare solutions that can serve both India and export markets.
He stressed that recently concluded free trade agreements have dramatically widened access for Indian companies. With coverage extending to economies representing nearly 70% of global GDP, startups now have an unprecedented launchpad for global growth.
Goyal urged founders to participate in overseas fairs and tap Indian missions across the world for market entry support. The Commerce Ministry, he assured, stands ready to facilitate international outreach.
At the same time, he emphasized that innovation must solve real, everyday challenges at home. Celebrating entrepreneurs, backing resilience, and sharing success stories, he said, will help build confidence in India’s innovation ecosystem.
His core message: innovate locally, compete globally.
